Darpan Basak and Ankit Kumar – Two success stories from India at the Travel Photographer of the Year award
Darpan Basak and Ankit Kumar are two young Indian photographers who brought laurels to India by winning prestigious Travel Photographer of the Year award. 14 years old Darpan won in the Young Travel Photographer of the Year category and Ankit, who is 13 years old was awarded in the ’14 years old and under’ category.
Darpan learned photography on his own and has been pursuing it seriously since 2012. He also received an honourable mention in the Royal Society of Biology’s Conflict and Survival photography competition in 2015.
This beautiful shot of a person running into the sea was one of Darpan Basak’s winning photographs.
Ankit received a camera as a gift for his 13th birthday. Ankit has been capturing wildlife across Asia and Africa and landscapes of Europe and North America. A student of Class 8 in Singapore, Ankit won in the Places and Experiences theme category.
Ankit captured a flock of flamingos taking flight above Lake Natron in Tanzania, Africa – his winning photograph.
