Sleeping Children Around the World ensures every underprivileged kid to get a comfortable sleep
How about providing free bed kits to the children sleeping on the road? Indeed a wonderful idea right! Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW) is a charitable organization that has been providing free bed kits to the underprivileged children across the world.
Sleeping Children Around the World was founded by Murray Dryden. On one of his visit to India, Murray Dryden saw a child sleeping on the street. A man of ideas, Murray then decided to do something for the children who have no comfortable beds.
Not a single portion of the donation made to the Sleeping Children Around the World is spent on administration; instead, full donation reaches to a needy child. Each bed kit consists of a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net, clothes outfit and school supplies. However, bed kit contents vary from country to country depending upon the local needs.
Murray and his wife Margaret have devoted their retirement lives to this program. Since its foundation, they have raised over $23 million to provide bed kits to the children in 33 countries. The best part is, every child is photographed with the bed kit, showing the donor’s name and country. Each photograph is then mailed back to the original donor, which provides a great sense of satisfaction to the donor, remembering the child who has been greatly benefited from his donation.
