A brain dead man saved 4 lives and gave vision to 2 persons through organ donation

Raju Dhapa, a resident of Mahuva town of Bhavnagar, was declared brain dead at Bajarangdas Bapa Hospital in Bhavnagar. Raju Dhapa is dead, but he saved the life of four persons and gave vision to two others!! His family members agreed to donate Raju’s vital organs including heart, kidneys, liver and eyes.

After Raju Dhapa was declared brain dead, we did counselling of his kin and urged them to donate his organs to save lives of other people. Family readily agreed to donate, heart, two kidneys, liver and two eyes. Raju’s organs will save lives of four persons and give vision to two more. A special team from Mumbai arrived in Bhavnagar via chartered plane and took the harvested organ (heart) to Mumbai, said Dr. Rajendra Kabariya, the neurosurgeon at Hospital.

Bhavnagar police had made a special ‘green corridor’ for the ambulance from hospital to the airport, in order to transport the organs fast.
