I’m happy I was able to enter the records. I hope to represent the county in the Olympics and bag the gold medal, some day.

Six-year-old K Darshini from Coimbatore took internet by storm when she achieved an incredible feat of skating 10.5 kilometers in just 41.03 minutes in the Under 7 category of the Quarter Skating Marathon. Darshini’s achievement has created a new record and for which, she managed to get herself placed in the India Book of Records as well as in the Asia Book of Records.

I’m extremely excited to break the record. It was unexpected, but I had a lot of fun working for it, says K Darshini.

K Darshini is a student of Yuvabharathi Public School, Kanuvai, Coimbatore. She started skating when she was only five years old. So far, Darshini has participated in several district, state and national level tournaments before. But this achievement has set a national benchmark, because she took 41.03 minutes to complete the distance of 10.5 km, which was to be finished in 45 minutes.

Every morning, Darshini would wake up at five and practice for an hour before getting ready for school. She also practiced on the road for six months. Her parents are too supportive to her. They have even arranged a coach for her.
