This is how you can apply to over 89,000 jobs in Indian Railways mega recruitment drive
In one of its largest recruitment drives, Indian Railways has opened its doors to job-seeking candidates for over 89,000 C and D Group employees which include assistant loco pilots, technicians, gatemen, switchmen, trackmen, cabinmen, welders, helpers and porters.
Every year 40,000 to 45,000 employees retire from the Railways on an average and data from the Railway ministry suggests that 122,000 positions were vacant in the safety department as of April 2016. An All India Railway men’s Federation spokesperson said that this year, 56,000 railway employees are expected to retire. Many experts are of the opinion that this move was long overdue and it should be carried out regularly.
The minimum qualification requirements are Class 10 and an Industrial Training Institute certificate (ITI). The Indian Railways published a notification about Group D vacancies for candidates who have passed Class X or have an industrial training diploma and are in the age group of 18-31. The monthly salary along with allowances as per the Seventh Pay Commission (level 1) will be given to the selected candidates. Applications for these jobs will be accepted till March 12. Group C will follow a similar process with 26,502 vacancies to be filled for assistant loco pilots and technicians. The aspiring candidates may apply by March 12, 2018 at 23:59 PM.
