This couple turned the big fat Indian wedding style into an eco-friendly wedding

eco friendly wedding

Indian weddings are known by the tag –‘The big fat Indian wedding’. Beating the norms, Mumbai based couple Shasvathi Siva and Karthik Krishnan tied the knot in an environment friendly celebration.

Their wedding was animal-friendly and had no flowers, silk, leather and dairy products, and has made as little use of plastics as possible. To avoid plastic made materials, eco-friendly materials such as edible spoons and recycled newspaper instead of paper napkins were used. Moreover, the wedding was attended by some special guests; it had cats and dogs as guests. Both their families consider animals to be an extended part of their family.

Where there is a will, there is a way. We need more people to have such weddings. The celebration does not need to involve cruelty, that in itself is an oxymoron, Siva says.

This wonderful couple believes that their exemplary wedding will encourage many others to opt for an eco-friendly wedding.
