Government to roll out a massive free door-to-door health screening program

door-to-door health screening program

Over 35% of all deaths in India are due to cancer, heart disorders and diabetes. Owing to that, the Union health ministry is all set to roll out a massive free door-to-door health screening program for the early detection of cancer, heart disorders and diabetes.

The PM Modi is going to inaugurate this massive free door-to-door program on the World Cancer Day (February 4), targeting the economically critical 30-69 year-old age group.

This program is among the preventive-care measures planned by the health ministry. The targeted age group is 30-69 years, who constitute almost 37% of the total population. This population is also highly vulnerable to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) like cancer and diabetes.

The program is aiming to cover 200 districts across the country by 2018. This is indeed an overwhelming step taken by the government of India, which will help to reduce the premature mortality rate.
