Metallica’s concert collected 9 tons of food for the malnourished children of a community in northern Colombia
On November 1 around 25,000 fans attended the Metallica’s concert in Colombia last week. The fans were asked to donate food to help disadvantaged children and abandoned animals. Nearly nine tons of non-perishable food and other items were collected through the hunger-fighting charity the Challenger Foundation and Corazones Peluditos.
The main idea to collect food is to help the indigenous Wayuú community in La Guajira, in northern Colombia, where more than 4,000 children have died due to malnourishment and a lack of drinking water, in the last eight years.
The initiative to collect food through a concert has brought a new light to eradicate hunger from the world.
