Unique Indian wedding where guests showered blessings on the couple by donating blood
Everyone is quite familiar with the big fat Indian wedding style. But this Indian wedding is one of its kind and will be remembered in the years to come, because it is worth remembering. In this Indian wedding, more than 370 people who attended the wedding donated blood instead of wedding gifts. Dr R B Bhesania, who campaigned for blood and organ donation all throughout his life, made it sure that he took up the cause even during his daughter’s wedding.
The idea was to spread awareness about donating blood and organs. Wedding is an auspicious occasion to make people understand the importance of life. My daughter Dhvani and son-in-law Jay Pandya (both doctors) readily agreed to donate their blood on the wedding day. It was the best wedding gift for us, said the proud father of the bride.
Dr Bhesania has established himself as a trend-setter, when it comes to organizing blood donation camps during weddings and condolence meetings in the state. A similar donation camp was organized by the doctor during his son Siddharth’s wedding.
We had decided not to give any gold or valuables to our daughter. Instead, we asked the couple to take a pledge they would donate their blood and body as well. The couple also took the pledge that they won’t support female foeticide, stay away from tobacco products and encourage others for blood and organ donation, said Dr Bhesania.
Dr R B Bhesania organized such camps at dozens of social occasions in Gujarat. He has also registered the wedding event for Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of Records.
