Azhar Maqsusi, a young Indian, who feeds hundreds of people daily for free
It is quite easy to feed someone for a day or for a few days. But, how many of us have a golden heart like Azhar Maqsusi, who feeds 100-120 people daily!! Azhar Maqsusi, a 36 year old man from Hyderabad is one among us, who has been feeding hundreds of poor and homeless people daily, since long.
It all started three years back when Azhar came across a handicapped lady Ms. Lakshmi begging near a railway station. It was then he decided to do something for the poor. Next day, he served the food prepared by his wife for the hungry people out there. The beautiful part is, Azhar Maqsusi has never stopped since that day. Every day, Azhar Maqsusi serves one meal to hundreds of people under a bridge, near to the railway station.
Azhar, who has a plaster of Paris interior business, bears all the costs, including the cook’s salary, from his own pocket. Nearly 25 kg of rice, 2 kg pulses, one litre of oil and spices are required daily which costs around 1500–1700 rupees per day.
Initially Azhar’s wife used to cook at home and he used to serve the food. But now a full time cook is there to cook for the people who arrive for the free meal.
