Akshay Kumar and Aaditya Thackeray started free self-defense classes for Mumbai women
Crime against women in India is increasing day by day, with increasing number of cases of rape, dowry harassment, eve-teasing and molestation. The best chance for survival is self-defense and self-protection, and for that women need to be empowered with self defense techniques.
Looking at the plight of women in India, Akshay Kumar and Aaditya Thackeray have launched a Women’s Self Defense Centre (WSDC), where women will be given free training on self defence. The course will be for one month where various tricks and acts will be taught in order to protect themselves. Later, advanced free courses will also be available.
The Women’s Self Defense Centre (WSDC) is a 5000 sq feet, air conditioned state of the art self-defense and martial arts training gym, in the heart of Mumbai, located . It is the only centre of its kind in India.
The training is managed by a team of highly experienced trainers like Mehul Vora, Megha Rawal Vora, Jatin Naik, Abhishek Thakkar and Vipul Suru.
Women will be taught techniques like how to kick, punch, use elbows, knees, head butts, fight one or several opponents, close quarters combat, and defences against knives, sticks and guns. Not only this, they will also learn how to make household stuff into deadly weapons.
After a personal experience I had at the centre, I highly recommend all women to take this opportunity. The training is conducted on weekends.
The success of this amazing initiative lies in its curriculum and strategies which cover all aspects of basic armed and unarmed combat against individuals and mobs, while keeping in mind the time, strength and fitness constraints of an individual.
